A birthday card

Today I made a "last-minute" kind of birthday card.
I like it how it looks simple yet good :).
It's going to be given to my son's teacher for her birthday.

It has an extra pocket on the inside to tuck in a Starbucks gift card.

Here are the snapshots of the card:

Have a great Friday!

Multicultural Day @ school and a cute gingerbread man

The teachers requested a project which is basically a simplified version of display - it would show photos of icons or meaningful things that can represent the country of the choice (by student), alongside a decorated gingerbread man with, of course, some clothing that would show the ethnicity of that country.

In our case, we chose Brazil. And what can be cuter for a brazilian gingerbread man than a set of soccer ball player outfit? We followed the colors and details carefully so it can tell by itself.

I made sure JW got the cutting part covered. I'm so glad to see how much he improved in his cutting skills since kindergarten days, not too bad for a first grader now.
This can also be just a mommy thing. :D

I will come back with another post about the display that is in the school right now.

Thanks for visiting!

for a dear friend, a folder card to hold and to keep

Today I want to share a folder card made for a special friend in my life, Carol H.
We go to the same Bible study small group in our church and she had been a wonderful friend since the day one we met back in 2012.

The purpose of the card, besides sending our group's warm messages for the period we missed her (when she couldn't attend some of the sessions)  it was also meant to hold few study sheets I saved for her during the studies. It has two folded pockets, nothing to hold bulky items but just few small pieces.

I liked the vibrant colors in this card. It's from a beautiful paper collection from Close To My Heart that was available in promotional campaign only.

I'm very grateful for her and have her as my friend and sister.

a past Class project, create a card stamping with SG - a quick view

This photo is a EKB Stamping Gear 101 class project - a sneak peek photo I'd like to share.
It is one of the class samples from one my 2013 classes @ Michaels.

It is essential to use the Inkadinkado Stamping Gear(SG) tool (EKBrands) as part of the project making. The tool itself allow the user to be as much creative as she can be. The sky is the limit!

You can find this tool at Michaels, Joann or any other art & craft store near by.

Stamp on!

Open House - thank you notes

Hello...this post is to share some of the Thank You cards I made and sent to the customers, students and friends that visited our Open House few days ago.

It was so great seeing some long-time-no-see friends and surprised by unexpected friends, we all had lots of fun. I've prepared the new living room to be "show room" as I wanted to share my latest paper crafting artworks and scrapbook projects. Seems like everyone had so much fun!

In these note cards I used some of the latest embellishments from CTMH(Paradise baker's twine, Mile Post shapes, mini-medley olive collection, etc). Fun!
The patterned paper is Typeset.

Good night,

Winter Thoughts Mini Accordion Album

This is a 6" x 6" accordion style album, basically with 8 pages including the cover and backcover.
Some pages background were made from Art Philosophy die cut collection.
I also used the CTMH new [big] snowflake overlay to embellish the cover with a shiny rhinestones-filled brad. Love these.
Simple color scheme and accents.

White Dream in July

I'd like to share today one cute gift I received from Terri ( our Christian Paper Artist Group ) who made and sent this beautiful vintage match box, in last December.
She used everything white in a rich combination of whites which gave the project an amazingly pretty effect of textures.

Loved how she used different materials and fibers. So classy and sweet.
Inside of the box there are lots of little treats and vintage goodies that made my day when it arrived to me. So thoughtful gift for a scrapbooker, from a very talented mixed media artist.
:)

Again, the wonderful feeling of a white Christmas in July.

Sharing with you - :),

Hooligans from CTMH. Color fun!

Hi there:

I have to say that my eyes for colors changed to a wider and sharper "it is about..." concept since I started to scrapbook and now I know, as scrapbooker instructor myself, how amazing can be when it comes to speak about the combination, a well seen coordination of colors and color shades per se.

Here is a layout I made featuring some of the colors I do no use often. But I really liked its result as can be seen above.

The paper collection is Hooligans from Close To My Heart, you can click HERE to find more about it. It's all about the cute monsters and bright colors!

Supplies:
papers, "stickease", black hemp, metal accessories, buttons(from Close To My Heart CTMH), journaling pen(ZIG memory system), plaid ribbon(Offray).

Have a colorful day!

gift giving: a scrapbook layout for Laura

Hi everyone:

At this time I'd like to share this two pages layout I made recently as a gift for Susan, one of the brazilian mommies I met last year. The layout title "bebe Laura" (bebe=baby)which is the name of her baby girl born in February.

I wanted to use a subtle combo of colors for this layout. And I liked the outcome of it.
The right page of the layout has few matted spots where features messages from four of the mommies of the Mamaes Brasil group. I found this such a wonderful way to spread the love and welcome the arrival of a new baby.

This layout has no predetermined blocks for photos so this means there are many ways to size and to hold the pictures. It could be a big 5"x 7" or 6"x 6", few traditional 4"x 6" or multiple 3"x 3". Or anything in between.

Supplies:
papers: CTMH; flowers: Prima, CTMH; brads:CTMH; stamp and ink:CTMH; kraft border: CTMH; Liquid Glass (CTMH); ribbon(misc.).

Sending sunshines,

ABC Scripture [F], colors and SSS challenge

Good afternoon...

It's quite a rainy day and seems like we're going to have a couple days with rain...
Well, glad I'm pretty much busy "indoors" creating and working and finishing with some of the latest projects - for the classes and gifts that I promised to some friends and relatives.
:)
That's quite a few though. About 7 different themed projects(2 are "year-long" type of project/assignment) .

It has been a while and I'm happy to be"catching up" again.

It's focused on Bible Verses - 2 Kings 17:38 and Prov. 3:1) while using the colors of TCR#49. The final result is this oh-so feminine look page carrying these great words that reminds me to not FORGET about what God has for me...

The Bible Verses here are:

"Do not forget the covenant I have made with you, and do not worship other gods."
(2 Kings 17:38)

"My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart..."
(Proverbs 3:1)

Supplies:
paper: CTMH, Basic Grey; button, stamp and ink: CTMH; alpha and circle chipboard: Making Memories, Darice; lacey doily: Wilton; brad and rhinestone: Recollections; accent fabric flower: Prima; punch: Martha Stewart; marker: ZIG Millennium; felt bird and big satin flower(misc.)

Thank you for visiting my blog,

COUSIN - a scrapbook layout

Hi there:

Today's layout is one of the samples I used for my recent FUNdamentals Class.
I wanted to highlight the bright colors in complementary and monochromatic shades, besides the fun of simple embellies like a little bow or a painted chipboard.

The layout involves some quick distressing and stamping techniques plus the use of the matting to give the pictures even more dimension.

Simple and fun.

Supplies used:
papers (CTMH, Basic Grey), stamps, ink, brads, ribbon( CTMH) alpha chipboard(Basic Grey) button chipboard(CTMH).

Good night!

A month in 2011 - welcome inspiration

This month has been somehow special for me.
I started two creative assignment projects that are so inspirational and refreshing for me. Both of these projects are like weekly and monthly challenges that are to be made based on prompts and key words, optional templates and themes.

I'm now very happy with the ongoing of these creative assignments and they are indeed giving me lots of new ideas and possibilities of textures and patterns.

Besides the creative input I also have the good news of a wonderful friend (Janell) who moved into our neighborhood about two weeks ago. I wanted to welcome her with a simple and warm little treat, so I made this Welcome Frame and Card.
The heavy weight chipboard letters were colored with acrylic paint and finished with Mod Podge(matte), I also used it to adhere the background paper and gave a thick layer of coating. This is a 4" x 4" glassy window frame.

The Bible Verse is Galatians 5:22-23.

Supplies:
paper(CTMH, We'R'Memory Keepers), chipboards(Basic Grey), acrylic paint and Mod Podge(Plaid), wood frame(Crafter's Choice), ink pads and stamps(CTMH, Sweet and Sassy Stamps).

Have a wonderful day,

ABC Scripture [B] and colors challenge

ABC Scripture Challenge #2/2011

http://thecolorroom.ning.com/

Today I'm sharing my 6" x 6" layout which is the ABC Scripture Challenge #2 - [B]. It is also the TCR#41 pallette challenge for The Color Room.

The keyword for the ABC Scripture layout is BIBLE (B). And for this, I've chosen two Bible verses that I find to fit perfectly in.

verse#1: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 16,17(NIV)

verse#2: "He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper."
Psalm 1:3 (NKJV)

The verse #1 is what I put as main words for the layout and the verse#2 is the support words. As you can see in the photos above, which shows the verse#2 as a tag, held by the main frame of verse#1(light green background).

I incorporated the 4 colors(blue, pink, purple and yellow/gold) of the TCR#41 among the mix of green, black and white. This is a wonderful color pallette and it is one of my favorites now.

Supplies:
papers - Close To My Heart(CTMH), Basic Grey
ink pad and Liquid Glass - CTMH
die cut - Martha Stewart Crafts
color spritz - Clearsnap
chipboard alpha(B) - K&Company
metal letters - Sticko
rhinestones - W2S
ribbons, trims, paper flowers - miscellaneous
